Bevaring av sosiale medier - pålitelig og anvendelig for fremtiden?

Abstract

Arkivverket har de siste par årene jobbet med et prosjekt (SoMe) hvor de høster innlegg fra stortingsrepresentanter, regjering og departementer som har blitt publisert på sosiale mediene Facebook, Instagram og Twitter. Deres aktivitet er en viktig kilde til samtidsdokumentasjon og samfunnets fremtidige kulturarv. I denne oppgaven ser jeg på Arkivverkets arbeid og hvorfor høsting og bevaring av sosiale medier er viktig i lys av de fire grunnleggende egenskapene vi finner innenfor dokumentasjonsforvaltning; autentisitet, integritet, pålitelighet og anvendelighet, jamfør ISO 15489. Men arbeidet er omfattende, og i takt med den ekspanderende utviklingen innen informasjonsteknologi blir de fire egenskapene utfordret i arbeidet med høsting og bevaring av sosiale medier. Tilgang, falske nyheter og personvern blir utfordret. Internasjonalt har Library of Congress (LoC) i USA høstet og bevart innlegg fra Twitter siden 2010, og jeg vil ved siden av Arkivverkets arbeid også ta for meg noen av utfordringene de har støtt på.

Over the past couple of years, the Norwegian National Archives has been working on a project where they collect posts from parliamentary politicians, government and ministries that have been published on social media such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Their activity is an important source of contemporary documentation and society's future cultural heritage. In this thesis I look at the work of the Norwegian National Archives and why reaping and preserving social media is important in light of the four basic characteristics we find in record management; authenticity, integrity, reliability and usability, cf. ISO 15489. The work is extensive and with the expanding developments in information technology, the four attributes are challenged in the work of reaping and preserving social media. Access, fake-news and privacy regulation are being challenged. The Library of Congress (LoC) in the United States has been reaping and preserving posts from Twitter since 2010, and in addition to the Norwegian National Archives project, I will also address some of the challenges they have encountered.
