Abstract
A two-dimensional broken ice model is implemented, including a collision detection and resolving system for ice interactions, using conservation of momentum. A simulation of the model has been done to evaluate the dynamics of the ice floes. The rectangular simulation area is constrained by four boundaries, in which environmental forces apply to the ice. An obstruction is introduced to the simulation to induce ice interactions, with the purpose of verifying physically feasible ice movement. Also, some ice management strategies and measurement techniques are discussed.
