The industry of live music venues has, like many other business sectors, experienced an increase in competitiveness over the past few years. This is much due to the services available on the internet that enables the customer to download and watch any type of music or show. To survive in this competitive market and to enhance the chances of word-of-mouth it is important to have customers that are satisfied and loyal. In our study we have chosen to measure the customers attitudes and thoughts towards the business by measuring the level of loyalty and customer satisfaction. In addition to this we chose to study the firm´s reputation, as well as it´s relationship specific investments in the employees and customers. By doing this we are able to see how much these factors can affect customer loyalty and satisfaction, and how this affect word-of-mouth intentions. Our problem of research is as follows: Could consumer satisfaction or loyalty have an effect on positive and negative word-of-mouth within the customer base at Nidelven Bar & Scene, and do relationship specific investments and the firm´s reputation have an effect on these? We have developed a research model as the foundation of our approach to the study. We chose to do a quantitative study consisting of a survey. This survey was sent out by email to the customers that are signed up for the company’s newsletters, in addition to this we also published the survey on the company’s Facebook page. This is a cross-sectional study design. In our study we have used a deductive strategy including testing of hypotheses. We used both factor- and regression-analysis, and the measurement was tested in the statistical program, SPSS. Our results show that the relationship specific investments made by the firm and the firm´s reputation has an effect on the customer satisfaction and loyalty, as well as their behavioral intentions.
