This study has explored 1) the prevalence of hoarding in treatment-seeking patients at an obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) clinic, 2) how individuals with hoarding differed from other individuals with OCD regarding demographics, diagnosis, and relevant beliefs, and 3) to what extent they responded to OCD-specific exposure and response prevention (ERP) treatment. The sample (n = 455) was categorized into three different groups (no symptoms of hoarding, subclinical hoarding and clear symptoms of hoarding). In this study, a total of 39.1% reported no hoarding symptoms, 46.4% reported some symptoms and 14.5% reported clear hoarding symptoms. Characteristics that were associated with hoarding included higher age, single marital status, receipt of social benefits, comorbidity, more severe OCD, and more dysfunctional metacognitions. Patients with hoarding were found to respond well to treatment, and hoarding symptoms were significantly reduced.nb_NO
