Previous studies have examined the valuation of certain housing attributes and estimated willingness to pay for these attributes. However, there has been little focus on compact housing in these studies. The purpose of this article is to reveal how young adults valuate attributes related to sharing, as previous studies indicate. The data is based on a survey conducted by students at NTNU Trondheim. In total, 177 respondents from 27 different fields of study conducted the questionnaire, with a majority of students from business and administration, and management of technology. The survey was designed with 14 stated choice tasks of housing alternatives, with both verbal and visual descriptions of the alternatives. The analysis was based on six different models, with one standard model including all the observations and variables. The rest of the models had reductions in the number of observations or variables, and were then compared to the standard model to test the effects from each change. Based on the analysis the study concludes with a lack of preference towards the attributes based on sharing. The results indicate that the respondents prefer private space rather than shared solutions. These results may be useful for residential builders of compact houses, and will provide insight to what types of attributes the young adults value when buying an apartment.nb_NO
