This master thesis thematic is based on families with a final rejection on their asylum application, whom which of different reasons remains in Norwegian reception centres after being given a departure date. The asylum topic has received attention from both media and science over the last years, but still it seems that families with a final rejection on their application has been given limited focus. The study is qualitative and based on interviews done with three reception centre employees and two child protection service employees with experience from working with families whose final asylum application was rejected. This thesis has an inductive driven curiosity, where the empiricism from the sources have been governing for the thesis design and underlying questions. The analytical method: Gradually deductive – inductive approach, has the thesis theoretical input been chosen considering the analysis final phase. The underlying questions bases on the findings from the empirical work, where uncertainty and ambivalence is thematised and attempted to be understood in the context of theory about complexities in child protection services, along with the terms caring rationality and purposerationality. The thesis superior issue, “how do the families with final rejection experience their everyday situation, as seen from the reception centre employees and the child protection service?” has been in focus throughout the thesis. The rejection’s crucial importance for the families’ mental health, limitations because of the rejection, and the families’ alternating view on hope and hopelessness has been shown to characterize the day to day life for the families.nb_NO
