dc.description.abstractThis thesis work has presented a comprehensive harmonic analysis in megawatt offshore wind farms where the permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) is used. Firstly, a detail configuration of the wind energy conversion system is described. Moreover, a suitable model of typical collection grid system for offshore wind farm is built and validated in Matlab/Simulink. Afterwards, based on the self-built system model, potential harmonic issues that can arise in the collection system are investigated in two ways, FFT tool and equivalent impedance vs frequency figure. As well, many different operation cases of the illustrative offshore collection system are compared to evaluate the various influence on the harmonic issue.
