Protesepasienters erfaringer med preoperativ informasjon - en systematisk litteraturstudie

Abstract

Hensikt: Hensikten med denne litteraturstudien er å belyse hofte- og kneprotesepasienters erfaring med preoperativ informasjon. Metode: Oppgaven er en systematisk litteraturstudie. Databasene Cinahl Complete og Medline ble brukt til litteratursøk. 8 kvalitative forskningsartikler er inkludert. Evans´ innholdsanalyse, ble brukt for å analysere innholdet i artiklene. Funn ble sortert inn i 2 kategorier. Resultat: Pasientene ønsket seg detaljert informasjon angående hele forløpet. Muntlig informasjon kunne bli opplevd som overveldende, supplerende skriftlig informasjon ble derfor satt pris på. Mangelfull informasjon førte til engstelse for pasientene grunnet manglende innsikt. Informasjon tilpasset pasientenes behov og tilgjengelig helsepersonell ble satt pris på. God informasjon gjorde at pasientene kunne forberede seg mentalt til operasjonen og det gav dem trygghet. Ærlig og direkte informasjon gjorde det lettere å forberede seg til mulige postoperative utfordringer. Pasientene ønsket å dele erfaringer med andre som skulle eller hadde gjennomgått samme operasjon. Det var viktig for pasientene i den preoperative fasen å bli kjent med helsepersonellet. Pasientene opplevde en trygghet i helsepersonellet når de fremstod som forståelsesfulle og proffe. Dersom helsepersonell ikke var tilgjengelige for spørsmål fra pasientene grunnet tidsmangel kunne dette føre til at pasientene ble urolige, og derfor ikke våget å spørre om ting de lurte på. Konklusjon: Pasientene ønsket seg tilpasset informasjon slik at de kunne medvirke i forløpet. Dersom de ikke fikk tilpasset informasjon kunne dette føre til utrygghet og mistillit til helsevesenet. Sykepleier må danne relasjon med pasientene for å kunne finne ut av hvilken informasjon de trenger og hvilken informasjon de ønsker. En god relasjon har betydning for oppfattelsen av informasjon som ble formidlet av sykepleier. Når det ikke var rom for å kunne stille spørsmål fordi sykepleier hadde dårlig tid, oppsto det ikke en god relasjon.

Aim: The aim of this literature review is to shed light on the hip and knee replacement patients´ experinces with preoperative information. Methods: This is a systematic literature review. The databases Cinahl Complete and Medline were used in the search for literature. 8 qualitative articles were included. Evans´content analysis was conducted to analyse the articles. The findings were sorted into two categories. Results: The patients wanted detailed information about the entirety of the operation. Verbal information could be considered overwhelming and supplementing written information was appreciated. Lacking information led to anxiety for the patients because it led to a feeling of lacking insight. Personalized information and accessible staff were appreciated. Good information made the patients able to prepare mentally for the operation and it gave them a sense of safety. Honest and direct information made it easier to prepare for possible postoperative complications of challenges. Some of the patients wanted to share thoughts and experiences with other people going through the same operation. Conclusion: The patients wanted personalized information to be able to participate in the situation. When they do not get that, it could lead to a feeling of lacking safety and mistrust in the health care system. The nurse must form a relation with the patient to find out what information they need and what information they want. The patients experiences that a good relation with the nurse influences the perception of the information that is given. The patients felt that they the relation was bad, when they felt the nurse was unavailable for questions from them.
