Background: In Norway the focus on palliative care for children independent of diagnosis is low compared to the rest of the world. There is not enough information and focus on the parental needs during this period. Aim: The aim with this review is to find out which important needs the parents have when their child is in palliative care, and how the nurse can attend to these needs. Method: The method used is a litterature reviwe. Research based literature and other literature was used to answer the thesis. Cinahl, Idunn, Ovid, PubMed and SveMed+ are some of the databeses that were used during the search for articles. Some of the search words used: Child, Death, Parents, Experiences, Needs, Palliative Care Result and conclusion: Parents have many needs in a situation like this, but what stands out is the need for information, good relationships with the nurses, to participate and to be included in decisionmaking, and preserve their role as mom and dad. What surprised us the most was the specific need for help and support to let go of their child. To attend to these needs the importance of good relations and good communication is clear. Knowledge and a security to stand in these situations are also important for a nurse to contain.nb_NO
