Hva bekymrer den døende pasienten?

Abstract

Bakgrunn: Oppgaven vil belyse bekymringer og tanker hos kreftpasienter som er i livets siste fase. Dette fordi det er et tema som sykepleiere i hjemmesykepleien stadig kommer borti. Hensikten med denne oppgaven er å avdekke hvilke bekymringer og tanker som oppstår hos den døende pasienten og hva sykepleierens rolle er i slike situasjoner. Metode: Oppgaven er bygd på en litteraturstudie, hvor seks artikler er analysert og diskutert. Artiklene som er valgt i studien er kvalitative. Resultat: Funn viser mange ulike bekymringer og tanker som oppstår rundt døden. Resultatene viser at preferanser rundt døden er individuelt, men samtidig viser studien likheter i hva pasientene tenker og føler om sin egen død. I studien kommer det også frem usikkerhet blant sykepleierne. Konklusjon: I studien kommer det frem mange ulike tanker og bekymringer som opptar den eldre, og det er derfor viktig som sykepleiere å se på pasienten som en helhet og ikke bare fokusere på sykdommen.

Background: The assignment will focus on concerns and thoughts in cancer patients who are in the final phase of life. This is because it is a topic that nurses in home health care continually bumps into. The purpose of this assignment is to uncover the concerns and thoughts that arise by the dying patient and what the nurse's role is in such situations. Method: The assignment is built on a literature study, where six articles are analyzed and discussed. The articles selected in this study is qualitative. Results: Findings show many different concerns and thoughts that arise around death. The results show that preferences around death are individually, but at the same time, the study shows similarities in what patients thinks and feels about their own death. In the study it also shows uncertainty among nurses. Conclusion: In this study it emerges many different thoughts and concerns that occupy the elderly, and it is therefore important that nurses look at the patient as a whole rather than just focus on the disease.
