Introduction: Many literary works tell how important it is for nurses to know the discussion about euthanasia. The nurses have the biggest responsibility for patients with severe incurable diseases, and it is the nurses who have to prepare themselves to meet patients with questions about this in the future. Purpose: Examine whichever attitudes nurses have towards severe somatic ill patients with questions about or a wish of using euthanasia. Also examine which factors affect the attitudes of the nurses here. This can help nurses to be aware of their own attitudes which can help them prepare for meetings with patients who has these kinds of questions. Method: This is a modified literary study in which a systematic search has been done to find scientific research articles. These articles are both quantitative and qualitative, and contain studies that helps finding answers to this issue. Results: The findings from the scientific research articles shows that nurses attitudes about this subject are ambiguous. They are unsure about what they think about the subject. The nurses are filled with different feelings when they meet patients with questions about euthanasia, and several factors affect their attitudes strongly. Conclusion: From the findings extracted from the scientific research articles, it is clear that nurses justification of their attitudes can be found in other literature. This is e.g. ethics, legislation and suffering of the patients. Nurses opinions about euthanasia are met with both support and resistance from scientists and writers who have openly declared about this issue. Nurses find it difficult to know which factor to support their decision even though the law weigh the most in this, theoretically.nb_NO
