dc.description.abstractThe object of this report was to study the design of access platforms within Aker Solutions systems by visual research of already designed platforms as well as standards and rules for design. To use this study to propose a user input driven computer model for creating access platforms, and to propose a way to view component specific documentation within the this software. After studying the design of platforms, I have concluded that very few access platforms look the same and follow design rules perfectly. After studying standards and documentation, I have discovered that the platforms have a very clear set of design rules, and can easily be implemented in a computer model. The study of the access platform has lead me to decide that the user input needed to create an access platform is a volume, where the access platform should be placed. By using the measures of that volume, and the design rules of the platform, a computer program should be able to create a correct access platform within that volume. I have programmed a model of the access platform which creates access platforms based on the design rules. This data model has the ability to create several different types of platforms, and the ability to easily add more platforms at a later time. Although almost all access platforms has a different design, it seem to be highly rewarding and time saving to create a rule controlled computer program to create access platforms automatically based on few user inputs. The result will most likely be an item for modifications, but compared to the time it takes to create standard components with standard rules, it is lucrative.nb_NO
