H: The project objective has been to increase the static capacity to an elevated helipad with the use of composite components, from today’s weight limit to the weight of the new rescue helicopter. The static capacity has been measured through deflection in the frame work and current regulations are used to verify the result. Calculations are made with the use of Finite Element Method and starts with a global beam analysis to locate the area with the maximum deflection. Based on the global analysis, a part of the frame work is selected for a local solid analysis, both with and without strengthening composite components. The strengthening solution implies to glue flat fiberglass reinforced plastic composite beams to parts of the steel frame work. The best solution is found after several iterations in ANSYS. The strengthening with fiberglass reinforced plastic composite beams increase the static capacity to a selected elevated helipad at OUS Ullevål, so the weight limit can be increased from 15 000 kg to 16 000 kg, which is the weight of the new rescue helicopter.nb_NO
