H: This bachelor thesis describes the surveyor’s tasks and compares them from two different countries, Lebanon and Norway, respectively. Surveyors task is to measure terrains, collect data and process them for further work. Two different projects carried out in Lebanon involved information retrieval, map -making and regulation of properties. These projects were compared against a similar project conducted in Norway. The project conducted here in Norway was about data collection, surveying property and create a zoning map. When surveyor’s tasks were compared in the various projects, several differences were exposed. The differences included the availability of information that is big and organized in Norway, while in Lebanon must surveyor collect a huge amount of necessary data for each project. Data collection methods were also different. Norway has modern equipment that collects data / points with minimal fieldwork and these are available. Measuring instruments used in both countries were similar. A major difference was the time commitment. Manual methods of calculation and data collection were used in Lebanon and demanded time, while customized software with databases that were used in Norway was faster to work with.
