H: The purpose of the thesis is to find critical factors for start-up businesses, regardless of industry. This has been discussed through three in-depth interviews and three questionnaires. We have used both qualitative and quantitative methods . We interviewed one management consultant in banking, one bankruptcy and one success entrepreneur. We received 519 responses to the survey. We sent out to companies that have not survived and businesses that have survived. In the discussion we discuss the findings of the survey to the relevant theory. We have study the factor planning prior to startup. We look at education, where management education at Master's level can seems to have a positive effect on start-ups. But we see that it may indicate that it is more important with personal interest in the product or service that your business sells, than higher education. The last factor we discuss is active ownership in the company, which does not seem to have any influence Conclution: we believe that it is possible to see critical factors across industries. The critical factors that we have found is planning, management, education and personal interest in your service or product being sold.nb_NO
