Abstract

This study contains the use of gonadal shields during x-ray examinations of pelvis, hips and ls.columna. I have performed this study mainly to determine wether radiographers use gonadal shields during these examinations among males in the age of 0-50 years, and reasons for this not being used. I have also tested the radiographers with some questions about the topic. The gonads are susceptible to radiation. During pelvic area x-rays the gonads fall directly into the primary x-ray field. It is important to protect the patient against unnecessary radiation dose.
