Inkludering i kroppsøving En studie av videregåendeelevers opplevelse av inkludering i kroppsøving
Abstract
This study is about how students in an upper secondary school experience inclusion in physical education. The study focuses on the communication and meaning that affect inclusion in physical education, and I highlight this based on Luhmann's theory of social systems. The study has a phenomenological approach where students' experiences of reality are significant, and I, as the author, have later interpreted and analysed these experiences. I used focus group interviews as the method and interviewed three groups, each consisting of four students. These groups include both genders and representatives from all three grades in the upper secondary school. The results show, among other things, that the communication brought into physical education significantly impacts inclusion, especially the communication and meaning that originate from the organised sports context. When communication and meaning from organised sports are introduced into physical education, the informants claim that the choice of activities, group division, and organisation of the class becomes even more important elements for achieving inclusion in the subject. An apparent result is also that social inclusion, as feeling safe with friends or classmates, weighs more heavily than specific skills when it comes to achieving inclusion in physical education.Based on Luhmann's theory of social systems and the informants' experiences, the physical education teacher needs to observe and analyse the communication produced and reproduced in each physical education group. At the same time, it is crucial for teachers to be aware that communication affecting inclusion is a continuous and multidimensional process that never stops or pauses.
