Problemstilling: Hvordan ivaretas sykepleieres arbeidshelse i afrikanske land sør for Sahara?
Metode: En systematisk litteraturstudie. Studien inkluderer syv forskningsartikler.
Abstract Background: Through my practice studies abroad, I experienced challenges related to occupational health and the work environment in Namibia. The nursing shortage in sub-Saharan African countries leads to high workloads and poor working conditions for nurses in areas of high infection risk.
Aim: The aim of this study was to shed light on how the occupational health of nurses is addressed in sub-Saharan African countries.
Research Question: How is the occupational health of nurses addressed in sub-Saharan African countries?
Method: A systematic literature study based on eight research articles.
Results: The findings show that nurses in sub-Saharan African countries face challenges such as high workloads, understaffing, lack of personal protective equipment, and a poor working environment. This results in stress, burnout, increased infection risk, and negative consequences for both nurses' health and patient safety.
Conclusion: The occupational health of nurses in sub-Saharan African countries is challenged due to lack of personal protective equipment, high workloads, and stressful work environments. These problems increase the risk of occupational injuries and illnesses, as well as affect nurses' mental health and well-being.
