Abstract
Health assessment is a field within the life insurance industry. The case managers who work with this perform health assessment of the life insurance applications of the customers seeking insurance. This requires a health-related weight in the work, and over many years there have been many manual processes in the case management job as a health assessor. This thesis has looked at how digitalisation can change the current health assessment process for life insurance applications and whether this could create ethical dilemmas.Through a survey and in-depth interviews of health assessors from different companies, one has gained an understanding of how the health assessors like to work in their field and what thoughts they have about the digitization of their work tasks. This study has shown that digitalisation will change the current health assessment process for life insurance applications and that it may create ethical dilemmas. On the other hand, there will be considerable variation in the changes this will entail and the ethical dilemmas that may arise at the various companies. It will be important to have a good basis for the reasons why we want to use artificial intelligence, where it will be used and to what extent. It is also important to map and make good analyses to ensure that you meet management, employees and customers at a level that works well for all parties. Again, a framework or standards would potentially be helpful in such a process.
