Inkludering av barn med autismespekterforstyrring i barnehagen

Abstract

Tema for denne masteroppgåva handlar om korleis vi kan inkludere barn med autismespekterforstyrring (ASF) i leiken på tur. Forskinga baserer seg på kvalitative intervju med fire spesialpedagogar i spesialpedagogisk team i ein kommune. Mi problemstilling har vore følgjande: Kva for tiltak meiner spesialpedagogar i spesialpedagogisk team må til for at barn med autismespekterforstyrring (ASF) vert inkluderte i leiken på tur i barnehagen? Det er eit gjennomgåande funn at informantane har fokus på å bli kjende med barnet og kartlegge interesseområda. Utfordringane i leiken handlar om å få barnet interessert i omgivnaden sin. Difor må ein finne ut kva barnet likar å leike med og interesserer seg for. Det gjer at barnet «løftar blikket» og blir meir interessert i dei andre. Leik som byggjer på interesseområda aukar sjansen for at barnet blir motivert til læring og samspel. Funn i studien viste at der turaktiviteten var godt førebudd og planlagt slik at barnet hadde moglegheit til å kunne delta i fellesskapet, erfarte dei at barnet leika med dei andre barna. Turar som er uorganiserte og lagt opp til frileik er stressande for barn med ASF, og det kan føre til at barnet vegrar seg for neste tur. Eit gjennomgåande funn i studien er at det spesialpedagogiske teamet er opptatt av å inkludere arbeidet med resten av fellesskapet i barnehagen. Den tida der barnet er ute på eige rom med eige opplegg med ein vaksen har endra seg. Dei jobbar med tiltak saman med dei andre barna. Alt arbeidet som vert gjort av spesialpedagogen saman med personalet i barnehagen er svært avgjerande for at barnet vert inkludert i leiken på tur.

The topic for this master’s thesis is the inclusion in play, during hikes, of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The research is based on qualitative interviews with four specialist teachers from a specialist teaching team in a municipality in Norway. My thesis question was: Which measures do special teachers in specialist teaching teams think are necessary to ensure the inclusion of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in play during hikes in kindergarten? Throughout my research, I found that the informants focused on getting to know the child and map his or her areas of interests. During play, the challenge is to get the child to become interested in his or her surroundings. This is why it is important to discover what the child is interested in and likes to play with. This makes the child «look up» and become more interested in others. Play based on the child’s areas of interest increases the chance of motivating the child to learn and interact. Findings in the study showed that when hikes were well prepared and planned, enabling the child to participate in the group, the child would play with the other children. Unorganised hikes where the children play with what they want are stressful for children with ASD and may lead to them not wanting to go on future hikes. Another finding was that the specialist teaching team wanted to make their work a part of the general community in the kindergarten. Times have changed, and children are no longer removed from the group to a separate room with an alternative programme together with a dedicated teacher. Now, teachers work on measures to be implemented together with the other children. The work done by specialist teachers together with the rest of the staff of the kindergarten is key for the child to be included in the play during the hike.
