dc.description.abstractI denne rapporten undersøkes de transiente overspenningene som produseres fra åpningen av en vakuumbryter i et mellomspennings smelteverk. En fiktiv modell av et smelteverk med korte kabellengder ble laget i ATPDraw. De verste transiente overspenningene ble funnet både ved transformatorterminalene på kildesiden og på lastsiden til vakuumbryteren, og optimale RC-snubberparametere ble funnet ved bruk av en ny Hybrid Wavelet Transform/Fast Fourier Transform – Genetisk Algoritme-metode som ble funnet i litteraturen.
dc.description.abstractIn this thesis, the transient overvoltages produced from the opening of a vacuum circuit breaker in a medium voltage arc furnace application are investigated. A fictive model of an arc furnace installation with short cable lengths was made in ATPDraw. The worst-case transient overvoltages were found at both the source side and load side transformer terminals of the vacuum circuit breaker, and optimal RC snubber parameters were found using a novel Hybrid Wavelet Transform/Fast Fourier Transform - Genetic Algorithm method found in the literature.
