Abstract

Fløyte og pikkolo er mest kjent for deres bruk i klassisk musikk og er forbundet med mykhet, mens metal-musikk på den andre siden lever av grovhet og aggresjon. Dette prosjektets mål er å utforske bruken av fløyte og pikkolo som hovedinstrumenter i metal-musikk med hjelp av effekter som forvrenging, saturasjon, kompresjon og mer. Prosjektet resulterte i et album bestående av åtte metal-sanger, hvor fløyte og pikkolo ble brukt som hovedinstrumenter i stedet for gitar. Albumet ble spilt in ved en kombinasjon av live-instrumenter og digital prosessering, og sangene ble arrangert og produsert i metal-stil.

Prosjektet involverte eksperimentering med diverse effekter for forvrenging, saturering og forsterking av fløyten og pikkoloen, forskjellige spilleteknikker, sangskrivning og det å få et band sammen med det rette arrangementet. Albumet som fulgte viser den unike og kraftige lyden som kan oppnås ved å bruke disse instrumentene i en metal-kontekst.

Albumet inkluderer et spektrum av stiler og humør, fra mer raske og aggressive sanger til mer sakte og melodiske stykker. Fløyte og pikkolo er brukt for å lage dynamiske og komplekse melodier, som er støttet av kraftige trommer, bass og sang i stilen av growl-vokal.

The flute and piccolo are most commonly known for their use in classical music and associated with softness, while metal music on the other hand lives of harshness and aggression. This project aims to explore the use of flute and piccolo as lead instruments in metal music with the help of effects such as distortion, saturation, compression, and more. The project resulted in an album of eight metal tracks, where the flute and piccolo are used as the primary instruments instead of the guitar. The album was recorded using a combination of live instruments and digital processing, and the tracks were arranged and produced in a metal style.

The project involved experimenting with various effects for distortion, saturation and amplification of the flute and piccolo, different playing techniques, song writing and getting a band together with the right arrangement. The resulting album showcases the unique and powerful sound that can be achieved by using these instruments in a metal context.

The album includes a range of styles and moods, from fast and aggressive tracks to slower and more melodic pieces. The flute and piccolo are used to create dynamic and complex melodies, which are supported by heavy drums, bass, and growled vocals.
