Drama som metode i barnevernet - barnevernspedagogens bruk av drama som metode for å sikre barnets medvirkning

Abstract

I denne bacheloroppgaven drøfter jeg problemstillingen «Hvordan kan barnevernspedagoger bruke drama som metode for å sikre barns medvirkning?». Motivasjonen kommer i stor grad fra potensialet jeg ser i drama som metode for å løse opp i kritikk mot barnevernets nåværende praksis. Som fremtidig barnevernspedagog ønsker jeg å benytte kunnskap fra dramapedagogiske fag for å sikre at barns lovpålagte rett til medvirkning er reell og tilgjengelig for alle, uansett alder og eventuelle kommunikasjonsvansker. Barnevernets oppgave og betydning, barns medvirkning, barnevernsutdanningen og drama som pedagogisk metode legges til grunn for oppgavens vinkling. Videre blir funn fra litteratur og forskning rundt temaene lagt fram. Med en grunnleggende forståelse av problemene med dagens praksis, vil det videre komme fram hvorfor drama har metodisk relevans for å sikre barns medvirkning. I oppgavens drøftingsdel er det lagt fokus på hvilke hensyn barnevernspedagogen må ta, og det løftes fram konkrete eksempler på dramapedagogiske metoder som passer til ulike formål. Resultatet tilsier at drama har stort potensial som metode for å sikre barns medvirkning, forutsatt kompetente og tilpasningsdyktige pedagoger.

In this bachelor’s thesis, I discuss the research question “How can child welfare workers use drama as a method to ensure children’s participation?”. The motivation stems largely from the potential I see in drama as a method to address criticism of the current practices in child welfare. As a future child welfare worker, I aim to utilize knowledge from the field of drama to ensure that children’s legally mandated right to participation is real and accessible for all, regardless of age or communication difficulties. The thesis focuses on goal and significance of child welfare services, children’s participation, child welfare education and drama as a pedagogical method. Furthermore, findings from literature and research on the topics are presented. With a fundamental understanding of the issues with the current practices, it will be demonstrated why drama holds methodological relevance in ensuring children’s participation. The discussion section of the thesis focuses on the considerations that child welfare workers must take into account, and specific examples of drama-based pedagogical methods suitable for different purposes are highlighted. The results indicate that drama has significant potential as a method to ensure children’s participation, provided that the child welfare workers are competent and adaptable.
