This bachelor thesis aims to show how disintegration of the Norwegian Labour Party in 1923 were depicted in the Norwegian newspapers, “Arbeiderbladet, “Norges Kommunistblad” and “Aftenposten”. Firstly, the explanation of what conditions underlying the disintegreation will be made, primarily the Norwegian Labour Party’s relationship with the Comintern. Thereafter, a discourse analysis will be done of the depiction in the respective newspapers. The thesis also discusses some of the reasons why the Norwegian Labour Party became the largest mass party of the left, and not the Norwegian Communist Party.
