Detaljhandelsutvikling i Hamar og Gjøvik kommune

Abstract

Denne bacheloroppgaven har kartlegging av detaljhandel i Hamar kommune og Gjøvik kommune som tema. Oppgaven består av en rekke analyser av sekundærdata, som innebærer tall fra aksjeselskap som har offentlige regnskapstall, i tillegg til handelstrender som er relevante. Med bakgrunn i dette, bygges oppgaven videre på primærdata som er samlet inn gjennom dybdeintervju med næringssjefen for Hamar og næringspådriver for Gjøvik. Formålet med denne oppgaven er å kartlegge detaljhandelen i begge kommunene og sammenligne funnene. Teorigrunnlaget er basert på grunnleggende forbrukeratferd og makroøkonomi. I lys av dette, går oppgaven videre inn på handelstrender som har vist seg å være relevante for detaljhandelsutvikling. Her legger oppgaven mye vekt på endringer i forbruksmønster som følger av makroøkonomiske virkninger og de pågående handelstrender. I resultatkapittelet presenteres fagekspertisen til informantene våre i lys av teorigrunnlaget for oppgaven og analysen av sekundærdataene. De ulike perspektivene fra informantene, i lys av teorien og de sekundære analysene, legger et godt grunnlag for å sammenligne hver av kommunene. Det mest interessante funnet er at begge informantene anerkjenner utviklingen av plasskrevende handel utenfor sentrum, og har ulike perspektiv på hvordan denne utviklingen skal imøtekommes. Hamar kommune ser på mulighetene for å utnytte den økte trafikken plasskrevende varehandelskonsepter opplever, mens Gjøvik ønsker å konkurrer direkte med denne typen handel og skap et bedre tilbud. Felles for begge kommunene er at detaljhandel utenfor sentrum opplever et brattere vekst enn detaljhandel i sentrum.

This bachelor's thesis focuses on mapping the retail sector in Hamar municipality and Gjøvik municipality. The thesis consists of a series of analyses using secondary data, which includes financial figures from publicly available reports of companies, as well as relevant trade trends. Building on this, the thesis incorporates primary data collected through in-depth interviews with the business development manager of Hamar and the business facilitator of Gjøvik. The purpose of this thesis is to assess the state of retail in both municipalities and compare the findings. The theoretical framework is based on fundamental consumer behavior and macroeconomics. In light of this, the thesis delves into trade trends that have proven to be significant for the development of the retail sector. The thesis places significant emphasis on changes in consumption patterns resulting from macroeconomic effects and ongoing trade trends. In the result chapter of the thesis, we present the expertise of our informants considering the theoretical foundation of the thesis and the analysis of secondary data. The various perspectives provided by the informants, in conjunction with the theory and secondary analyses, form a solid basis for comparing each municipality. The most interesting finding is that both informants acknowledge the growth of out-of-town retail that is outside the city center, but they have different perspectives on how to address this development. Hamar municipality sees opportunities in harnessing the increased traffic that destination retail concepts experience, while Gjøvik aims to directly compete with this type of retail and create a better offering. Both municipalities share the experience that retail outside the city center is growing at a steeper rate than retail within the city center.
