FRA UTOPI TIL DYSTOPI: KUBRICKS FORBANNELSE

Abstract

Denne bacheloroppgaven har hensikten å utforske hvordan film kan representere arkitektur, for så å reflektere over hvordan representasjonen kan forstås som et minne. Ved å analysere en scene fra A Clockwork Orange (Kubrick 1971) gjør oppgaven rede på hvordan Kubrick manipulerer et nytt boligområdet til å virke dystopisk. Videre reflekter oppgaven rundt hvordan denne manipulasjonen kan forstås som et minne. Oppgavens teoretiske grunnlag tar utgangspunkt i teorier innen både film og kunsthistorie.

This bachelor thesis aims to explore how film represents architecture, followed by a reflection on how this representation can be understood as a memory. The paper looks at how Stanley Kubrick manipulates an estate under construction to have a dystopian feel through analysing a scene from the film A Clockwork Orange (Kubrick 1971). Then the paper reflects on how this manipulation can be understood as a memory. The thesis is based on theories from both film and art history.
