dc.description.abstract | Abstract
Social workers and other professionals in helping professions are strongly represented when
it comes to being burned out due to work-related conditions. Burnout, secondary stress
disorders and compassion fatigue are recurring concepts.
The method of the thesis is literature study and the self selected research question is: “What
can be good strategies for social workers to avoid burnout?”.
The literature shows that there is a need for a greater focus on this topic within the field of
social work and that professionals should be educated about the health risks in this
professional field. The learning process should start in the education programs for social
work and be taken further into the professional working life.
