Penalties in ProdRisk - Increased information to the user

Abstract

This project has implemented functionality in ProdRisk that gives improved information to the users of ProdRisk about how user specified penalties for violation of different types of physical and environmental constraints affects the operation of a given hydro system. Calibration of penalties and possibly prioritization of violation of constraints can be very tricky in a stochastic model like ProdRisk for complicated water courses with many constraints. Another important project result is a new researcher with competence on the ProdRisk code. ProdRisk is used for medium‐term hydro scheduling, maintenance planning and investment planning by almost all major hydro producers in Scandinavia. The result of the project is a protype version of ProdRisk that is available to all HydroCen participants with a ProdRisk licence. The new functionality will be included in the operative version of ProdRisk next year. Operationalization of the protype will be funded by the maintenance project.
