Kort muskellengde i hamstrings som risikofaktor for hamstrings skade
Abstract
AbstractPurpose: Hamstring injuries (HI) are one of the most common injuries in football (soccer) and represent 12-15 % of all football-related injuries. This study aims to investigate the correlation between hamstring muscle length and the occurrence of HI among elite male football players. Methods: A literature review. A systematic literature search was conducted in Pubmed, Scopus and SPORTDicus. Results: Five studies were included in this literature review. Two of the studies found a statistically significant correlation between a shortened hamstring muscle length and the occurrence of HI. Three of the studies show no statistically significant correlation. Four of the five studies promote increasing age as a risk factor for HI, and in two of the studies a higher occurrence of HI was found among midfield players and attackers. Conclusion: Shortened hamstrings muscle length is a small risk factor in getting a HI among elite male football players. The risk of getting a HI can with high certainty be correlated with other variables: strength in the outer position of the hamstring muscles, increased age, previous HI and playing position on the football field.
