New Challenges in Manufacturing Engineering Education
Abstract
Industry 4.0, additive manufacturing, digitalization and the emergence of the circular economy are changing the face of manufacturing. New pedagogical approaches, including web-based delivery, are changing the face of teaching and learning. This paper considers these issues and offers a framework for developing a new manufacturing engineering curriculum based on a T shaped structure with five knowledge areas, and using Kolb’s learning model and the CDIO (Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate) or “teaching factory” approach.
