This report was written by three students at Aalesund University College as a part of their bachelor thesis in Automation engineering. The thesis was given by Rolls-Royce Marine Propulsion, by Arild Djupvik. Supervisors were Ottar Osen and Houxiang Zhang. The aim for the project was to automate the assembly of a propeller head, which was then done by hand. Assembling a propeller head by hand takes a lot of time, involves safety hazards and can damage the product. By automating the assembly, it is believed that safety and quality is improved, and time spent is reduced. The task was to develop a scalable solution that is fully automated. The solution must utilize two robots and implement a control system with sensors. A system for handling and storing parts must be developed. A PLC contains the control program of the automated process. A visualization of the robot cell was also developed. By implementing a laser distance sensor, the assembly process is autonomous and can react to di erent events. To develop the solution, a hands-on approach was applied. Handling the parts and focusing on trial and error, inspired innovative thinking and gave solutions that were unique. Au- tomating the assembly process increased quality, reduced the risk of injury and drastically reduced the time it takes to assemble a propeller head.nb_NO
