Tyskerarbeid i byggesektoren: byggeprosjektene til Gros & Sønn A/S i Bodområdet og landsvikoppgjøret mot firmaet etter krigen

Abstract

Bodø var en stor byggeplass for Wehrmacht under okkupasjonsårene fra 1940 og fram til krigens slutt i 1945. Blant de mest fremtredende aktørene som opererte i området var firmaet Gros & Sønn (senere A/S), som var sentral i byggeprosjektene. Firmaets grunnlegger var Willy Gros, en tyskfødt murermester, som etablerte firmaet rett etter Norges kapitulasjon på sensommeren 1940. Under okkupasjonen gjennomførte firmaet et stort omfang av tyskerarbeid, og ble i straffesaken dømt for både utilbørlig utvidelse av næringsvirksomhet, samt byggeprosjekter av krigsviktig art for okkupasjonsmakten. Oppgaven er avgrenset til firmaet Gros & Sønns arbeider for tyskerne i Bodø og nærområdet, og hvilke utfordringer som firmaet påtraff i forbindelse med arbeidet. Av de mest sentrale byggeprosjektene finner man flyplassen i Bodø, der både flystripe og en del andre anlegg ble oppført av firmaet Gros & Sønn. Jeg vurderer krigsviktigheten i de ulike byggeprosjektene som ble gjennomført. I tillegg gjennomgås landssviksaken mot firmaet etter krigen, en prosess som varte helt frem til 1950. Spørsmålene var om firmaet hadde utført utilbørlig virksomhet, og straffbarheten i de forskjellige arbeidsforholdene ble vurdert. I oppgaven ser jeg på straffen til Willy Gros og hans ledsagere, og i hvilken grad straffen var representativ for landssviksoppgjøret generelt i et komparativt perspektiv. Oppgavens struktur er fordelt på 5 kapitler, en innledning og en analysedel fordelt på 3 kapitler. I kapittel 1 fremstilles faglig begrunnelse, historiografi og metode, samt en kort historisk oversikt over Bodø fra krigen. I kapittel 2 presenteres Willy Gros, hans ledsagere, og firmaets grunnleggelse. Kapittel 3 er dedikert til de ulike byggeprosjektene til firmaet Gros & Sønn, mens kapittel 4 omhandler landssviksaken mot firmaet etter okkupasjonen. Kapittel 5 er viet til en kort konklusjon av funnene i analysedelen.

The city of Bodø was a massive construction site for the German Wehrmacht during the occupation of Norway from the late summer of 1940 until the end of war in 1945. One of the most prominent participants in building projects around the area of Bodø was the construction company Gros & Sønn (Later A/S). The founder of the company, Willy Gros, was a master mason hailing from Germany. Throughout the German occupation of Norway, the company had a wide array of different construction projects for the occupying forces. During the post-war trials for suspected treason, the company was convicted both for unwarranted expansion of business, as well as the completion of several construction projects of significant importance towards the German war effort. This text is limited to the construction company’s activity in the city of Bodø and the surrounding area. It will also explore various obstacles of which the company was confronted with. The most notable construction project was the establishment of an airport in Bodø, where an installation of a runway as well as a plethora of other projects were completed. There will be an assessment of what importance different structures had towards the German war effort. A review of the post-war trial until the closure of the case in 1950, will outline questions of what were regarded as the most egregious infractions of which Gros & Sønn, as well as Willy Gros and his accomplices, were convicted of. There will also follow a quick comparative analysis of Gros & Sønn from the perspective of other construction companies suspected of treasonous conduct. The structure of the text is divided into 4 chapters. The first chapter is an introduction which contains an academic basis, historiography, the research methodology, as well as a quick historical overview of Bodø during the war. Chapter 2 will deal with Willy Gros and his accomplices, and the establishment of the construction company. Chapter 3 will explore the different projects which the company constructed, and chapter 4 will deal with the process of the post-war trial. Following the analysis, a conclusion of the most essential evidence can be found in chapter 5.
