Utfordringer i Tolkemedierte samtaler Et sosialt samspill mellom tolken og deltakerne

Abstract

Tolking er et yrke hvor man oversetter ytringer mellom ulike språk, både talte språk og tegnspråk. Det er behov for tolker i flere situasjoner både privat og offentlig, og i en slik samtale har samspillet i forhold til turtaking en spesielt viktig betydning. Turtaking handler om samtaledynamikk, det vil si hvordan man gir bort, og får ordet i en samtale. I denne bacheloroppgaven undersøkes hvilke utfordringer som kan forekomme i tolkemedierte samtaler, og hvordan disse kan løses eller omgås av tolken og deltakerne. Dette gjøres gjennom en litteraturgjennomgang hvor ulike litteraturkilder og undersøkelser i litteratur belyses. Det ble funnet at ulike typer utfordringer kan oppstå i tolkemedierte samtaler og møter i sammenheng med turtaking hvor avbrytelser og overlappinger kunne forekomme, og at både tolken og deltakerne hadde innflytelse på dette. I tillegg ble det også vist at det er en form for maktforhold i slike tolkede samtaler, og at dette kunne få konsekvenser for samtalens innhold og dynamikk, og deltakerne selv.

Interpreting is a profession where you translate utterances between different languages, both spoken languages and sign languages. There is a need for interpreters in several situations, both privately and publicly, and in such a conversation, the interaction in relation to taking turns has a particularly important significance. Taking turns is about conversational dynamics, that is, how to give away and get the word in a conversation. This bachelor thesis examines the challenges that can occur in interpreter-mediated conversations, and how these can be solved or dealt with by the interpreter and the participants. This is done through a literature review where various literature sources and investigations in literature are highlighted. It was found that different types of challenges can arise in interpreter-mediated conversations and meetings in connection with taking turns where interruptions and overlaps could occur, and that both the interpreter and the participants had an influence on this. In addition, it was also shown that there is a form of power relationship in such interpreted conversations, and that this could have consequences for the content and dynamics of the conversation, and the participants themselves.
