Musikklytting som immunogen adferd
Abstract
The corona pandemic has affected everyday life, and numerous countries have introduced drastic measures to stop the spread of the virus. After two years of corona, it is natural to ask questions about how "the new everyday life" has affected our health, and which personal strategies for pandemic management have counteracted potential negative health consequences. Based on the idea that music can function as a cultural immunogen, a pragmatic concept of music and a holistic/pluralistic approach to health, this text examines how music listening may have functioned as immunogenic behavior during the pandemic. The results indicate that active music listening can function as a “technology of self”: Music gives us the opportunity to regulate emotions, and it assists as a social capital. In addition, listening to music can be a source of key information regarding the pandemic, and it can act as a catalyst for prosocial behavior – this has a health-promoting potential.
