In order to cut the climate emissions from the construction industry, an investment projectwas started with the purpose of recycling wood materials. The project is called SirkTRE andis run by OmTRE. SirkTRE has as a goal to cut emissions from the construction industry by0.5 million tons of CO2 annually, by recycling timber in new construction projects. To achieve this goal methods and processes must be developed to bring the lumber back intousable condition. This bachelor's report addresses the issue of "How to identify and markfasteners such as nails and screws, from wood material". The project aims to design a safe andefficient way to identify and mark nails and screws in the used lumber. The knowledge accumulated from studying mechanical engineering has been a significantfactor in developing this concept. During this process several possible ways of identifyingmetal have been analyzed and evaluated. The result is a system that uses inductive sensors todetect metal and marking spray to mark the location of the element. These marks can befurther used in processing to remove nails and screws.
