A deep dive into Angela Carters retelling of Bluebeard and see this story in contrast to Beauty and the Beast. What lessons can Carter be trying to teach us? How can the old tales help a girl become Beauty and not Bluebeards’ wife? I will look at the difference of victimhood and victory, the split between monster and marriage, and how Carter tries to lead us through the woods. In this text I will try to answer what life-lesson Carter want the potential Beauty to know, and why she made her the wife of Bluebeard
