Regnskapsanalyse av Emilsen Fisk AS med fokus på lønnsomhet

Abstract

Fiskeoppdrettsbransjen er stor, og en av bransjens mange aktører er Emilsen Fisk AS. Det er en forholdsvis liten, men moderne oppdrettsbedrift med fokus på fornuftig og fremtidsrettet drift, der fisken holder den høysete kvalitet. I denne oppgaven har vi derfor gjennomført en regnskapsanalyse av fiskeoppdrettsbedriften Emilsen Fisk AS i perioden 2016 til 2020 med fokus på lønnsomhet. Vi gjennomførte regnskapsanalysen ved å beregne ulike nøkkeltall for likviditet, finansiering, soliditet og lønnsomhet. I tillegg har vi gjennomført en strategisk analyse ved bruk av analyseverktøyene PESTEL- og VRIO-rammeverket.

Oppgaven starter med en innledende del der bakgrunnen og hensikten med oppgaven forklares. Deretter presenteres bedriften Emilsen Fisk AS. Videre redegjøres det for problemstillingen og oppgavens struktur. Delen om relevant teori er delt i to. Først kommer relevant teori for regnskapsanalysen, og deretter relevant teori for den strategiske analysen. Neste del av oppgaven er metodedelen, der valgt metode beskrives. Der forklares det hvordan det er blitt gått fram for å løse problemstillingen, samt valg av undersøkelsesdesign og innsamling av data. Til slutt kommenteres det hvilke konsekvenser valgene som er blitt tatt har hatt for oppgaven, og følgelig drøftes og reflekteres dette i lys av reliabilitet og validitet.

Etter den innledende delen kommer den største og mest omfattende delen av oppgaven. Det er analysedelen, der det i første omgang blir presentert nøkkeltall for Emilsen Fisk AS innen likviditet, finansiering, soliditet og lønnsomhet. Deretter kommer det en komparativ analyse der valgt bedrift sammenlignes med to andre aktører i fiskeoppdrettsnæringen, og videre sammenlignes de tre aktørene mot gjennomsnittsnøkkeltall for bransjen. I analysens siste del kommer den strategiske analysen, der det blir sett på både makroforhold og mikroforhold som har påvirket regnskapstallene til bedriften i perioden.

Til slutt i oppgaven kommer konklusjonen. Der brukes opplysninger fra regnskapsanalysen og den strategiske analysen for å svare på oppgavens problemstilling, så godt det lar seg gjøre. Fra analysene kommer det fram at lønnsomheten for Emilsen Fisk AS var god i perioden, og at det har vært flere eksterne og interne forhold som har påvirket den.

The fish farming industry is a large sector, and one of many companies is Emilsen Fisk AS. It is a relatively small, but modern fish farming company with a focus on sensible and future-oriented operation where the fish maintains the highest quality. In this assignment we have therefore performed an economic statement analysis of the fish farming company Emilsen Fisk AS in the period 2016 to 2020 with a focus on profitability. We conducted the economic statement analysis by calculating various key figures for liquidity, financing, solvency, and profitability. In addition, we have conducted a strategic analysis using analysing tools such as the PESTEL and VRIO framework.

The assignment starts with an introductory part where the background and purpose of the assignment is introduced. Then, the company Emilsen Fisk AS is presented. Finally, in the introductory part, the research question and the structure of the assignment are presented. Furthermore, relevant theory is presented, and this part is divided into two. First comes the relevant theory for the economic statement analysis, and then the relevant theory for the strategic analysis. The next part of the assignment is the method section where the chosen method is described. It explains the development of the research question, as well as different approaches to data analysis and how data is collected. At last, the consequences our choices have had for the assignment will be commented, and then discussed and reflected in the light of reliability and validity.

After the introductory part comes the largest and most comprehensive part of the assignment. It is the analysis section, where key figures for Emilsen Fisk AS in liquidity, financing, solvency, and profitability are presented first. Then there is a comparative analysis where the selected company is compared with two other companies in the fish farming industry, and further the three companies are compared against average key figures for the industry. The last part of the analysis includes the strategic analysis, which looks at both macro and micro factors that have affected the company’s economic statement during the period.

At the end of the assignment comes the conclusion. Information from the economic statement analysis and the strategic analysis is used to answer the research question of the assignment as best as possible. The analyzes show that the profitability of Emilsen Fisk AS was good during the period, and that there have been several external and internal factors that have affected it.
