Den dansk-norske stats kontroll over begravelser og befolkning i den tidligmoderne perioden

Abstract

Etter reformasjonen ble innført i Danmark-Norge ble de kristelige ritualene endret på. De katolske elementene ble fjernet og erstattet med skikker som fulgte den lutherske teologien. Reformasjonen førte til at kirken mistet sin makt, men religionen var fortsatt med på å styre staten. Kort tid etter reformasjonen begynte den dansk-norske stat å vedta lover som tydelig bestemte hvilke skikker som ble tillatt i de lutherske begravelsene, med formål om å bekjempe uønsket oppførsel. Lover er et av statens hjelpemidler, og i denne oppgaven vil vi finne ut hvilken betydning begravelseslovgivningen hadde for den dansk-norske stat i den tidligmoderne perioden. Dette blir gjort ved å analysere vedtatte lover og forordninger fra perioden og finne ut hvilken relasjon de har til staten, befolkningen og den lutherske kristendommen.

After The Reformation was completed in Denmark-Norway the rituals performed in church were changed. The catholic elements of the ritual were removed and replaced with customs that were in compliance with lutheran theology. The Reformation had caused the church to lose its power, but the religion would continue to rule the state. Shortly after The Reformation, the danish-norwegian state began to constitute laws which decided the approved customs for the ritual, with the intention of defeating unwanted behavior among the citizens. The law is one of the states’ mechanisms, and in this text we will try to understand what importance the burial laws had for the danish-norwegian state in the early modern period. This will be done through analyzing a selection of implemented laws and regulations, and inspecting their relation to the state, the citizens and the lutheran christianity.
