Tolkning av aDNA funn på Newgrange

Abstract

Denne teksten er en tolkning av aDNA funnene som er gjort på gravsjakten på Newgrange. Dette blir gjort igjennom at leser får en basis forståelse av både hvordan aDNA og DNA blir brukt innenfor arkeologisk arbeid, og hvordan det gir oss mer informasjon om personen som har levd på Newgarange før. En faktor som blir veldig viktig i denne teksten er hvordan aDNA funnen har leddet frem til funn av innavl på Newgrange. Det fører til et videre spørsmål om dette var en vanlig hendelse innenfor samfunnet på Irland, eller om dette er noe som har blitt brakt med av folkevandringen i den neolittiske perioden i Europa. Det blir også brakt opp hva Newgrange ble brukt til. Om det var bare en gravsjakt for eliten i samfunnet eller om den også ble brukt til andre former for ritualer. Man ser også på om man kan gjøre tolkninger ut ifra enkelte funn eller om man kan bare gjøre tolkninger, når man har flere funn som kan bekrefte informasjonen fra enkelt funnet. Det man ser i konklusjonen på denne teksten er hvordan man kommer fram til to tolkninger. Den første er hvordan funn som ble gjort i gravsjakten på Newgrange og som viser til innavl i eliten på Newgrange, er mest sannsynlig et enkelt tilfelle og noe som ikke blir praktisert i samfunnet på Irland i neolittiske perioden. Den andre konklusjonen er hvordan folkegruppen i Irland mest sannsynlig kommer fra andre plasser i Europa og har tatt med seg tradisjonen sin til Irland og Newgrange fra forskjellige plasser i Europa, slikt som Nordvest-Frankrike der denne monument tradisjonen mest sannsynlig kommer fra.

This text is an interpretation of the aDNA findings made at the burial on Newgrange. This is done through the reader gaining a basic understanding of both how aDNA and DNA are used in archaeological work, and how it gives us more information about people who have lived on Newgarange before. A factor that becomes very important in this text is how the aDNA discovery has led to the discovery of inbreeding on Newgrange. This leads to a further question as to whether this is a common occurrence within the society of Ireland, or whether this is something that has been brought about by the migration of people in the Neolithic period in Europe, or it was just s singular case of it. It is also brought up what Newgrange was used for. Whether it was just a burial site for the elite in society or whether it was also used for other forms of rituals. Another thing one can make interpretations based on individual findings or whether one can only make interpretations, when one finds several findings that can confirm the information from individual findings. What you see in the conclusion of this text is two separate interpretations. The first is how the discovery made in the burial site of Newgrange that refers to inbreeding in the elite society of Newgrange is most likely a individual case, and something that is not a commen practiced in Irish society during the Neolithic period. The second conclusion is how the ethnic group in Ireland most likely comes from other locations in Europe and has taken the tradition of Ireland and Newgrange from different places in Europe such as Northwest France where this monument traditionally most likely comes from.
