dc.description.abstract | A thermal analysis was done using the simulation tool ESATAN-TMS on a hyperspectral imager payload, attached inside a 6U CubeSat. This was done to uncover if the components of the payload will survive the extreme thermal conditions in space. A description of how the simulation can make predictions of radiative and conductive couplings to calculate the thermal description of a model is included. How the simulation was conducted was also discussed.
Three analysis cases were conducted: hot operational case, cold operational case, and cold non-operational case. These analysis results were compared to the components' operational and survival temperature ranges. The objectives and detectors of RGB and HSI, Star Tracker, and S-Band failed their operational temperature requirements. The
S-Band, RGB detector, and HSI detector also failed their survival temperature requirements.
