Hvordan opplever pårørende til pasienter med Multippel Sklerose hverdagen

Abstract

Hensikt: Hensikten med oppgaven er å samle eksisterende kunnskap om hvordan pårørende til personer med multippel sklerose opplever sin hverdag. På dette grunnlaget skal vi diskutere hva sykepleier i kommunehelsetjenesten kan gjøre for å forbedre situasjonen til de pårørende.

Metode: Vi har gjort en systematisk litteraturstudie i en relevant forskning, pensumlitteratur og annen litteratur. De 8 forskningsartiklene er vurdert og valgt på grunnlag av kvalitets- og etiske vurderinger.

Resultat: Ved hjelp av analysen knytter vi opp resultatet fra studiene inn i ulike hovedtemaer. Hovedtemaene får fram pårørendes perspektiv: Nye ansvarsoppgaver i hverdagen, tilpasning og endring i hverdagen, forholdet mellom pasient og pårørende og informasjon og kunnskap.

Konklusjon: Pårørende har behov for støtte og veiledning for å mestre hverdagen. De trenger tilbud om ulike former for avlastning for å kunne ta hensyn til sine egne behov. Veiledning om informasjon og kunnskap vil hjelpe dem til å håndtere den uforutsigbare fremtiden for pårørende med sykdommen MS.

Purpose: This study aims to analyze existing research about how relatives of people with multiple sclerosis experience their everyday life. Based on this we discuss what nurses in municipal health services can do to improve the situation of the relatives.

Method: The study applies a systematic literature review of relevant research papers, syllabus literature and other literature. All together the study consists of 8 research papers which is selected and assessed on the basis of relevance, quality and ethical considerations.

Results: The main findings of the study is categorized according to how relatives are effected with respect to new responsibilities in everyday life, adaptation and change in everyday life, the relationship between patients and relatives, and information and knowledge.

Conclusion: The study contributes to insight and proposals about how nurses in municipal health services can do to improve the situation of the relatives. Nurses can provide support and guidance to relatives on how to cope with everyday life. Further, nurses can offer various forms of relief to relatives which can help them to define and manage their own needs. Next, with their experience and knowledge nurses can assist with information about the disease and other public available services and financial support which can dampen the relatives concerns and stress caused by the unpredictable future of patients with MS.
