Sosial ulikhet og deltakelse i utdanning

Abstract

Temaet vi har valgt for denne bacheloroppgaven dreier seg om deltakelse i utdanning, og hvordan faktorer innen sosial ulikhet påvirker dette. Ideen er basert på utviklingen i samfunnet som innebærer høyere krav til deltakelse i utdanning. Dette fører til en rekke prosesser som skaper ulikheter i samfunnet. Av den grunn vil vi undersøke hvorvidt sosial ulikhet er tilstede i samfunnet, og hvilke konsekvenser dette har for deltakelse i utdanning. For å utforske temaet er det brukt de ergoterapeutiske verktøyene Occupational Justice og Kawa. Metoden for oppgaven er litteratursøk, og tar utgangspunkt i seks vitenskapelige artikler som undersøker sosial ulikhet, utdanning og deltakelse. Litteraturstudien finner sosioøkonomisk status, foreldrenes rolle, motivasjon og sammenhengen mellom sosial ulikhet og helse som de mest sentrale faktorene for deltakelse i utdanning. Disse faktorene kan bidra til et klasseskille i samfunnet. Deltakelse i utdanning kan motvirke denne utviklingen da utdanning kan skape selvstendighet, tryggere økonomi, sosial mobilitet og utjevning av goder i samfunnet. Ergoterapeuter kan ikke få sosial ulikhet til å forsvinne, da dette er påvirket av politiske og strukturelle system i samfunnet. Likevel kan vi bidra med å tilrettelegge for mestring i skolehverdagen for å øke motivasjonen til å delta videre i utdanning.

The theme for this bachelor thesis is about participation in education, and in which way factors in social inequality effects this. The idea is based on the development in the society, which involves higher requirements to participation in education. This is leading to several events that are causing inequalities in the society. Therefore, we would like to research whether social inequality is present in the society, and which consequences this has for participation in education. To explore the theme, we used the academic theories Occupational Justice and Kawa. The method for this thesis is literature search and is based on six scientific articles. These articles explore social inequality, education and participation. This literature study found that socio-economic status, the role of the parents, motivation and the coherence between social inequality and health as the most domestic factors for participation in education. These factors can tribute to class distinction in the society. Participation in education can counteract this development, as education can lead to independence, a better economy, social mobility and equalization of benefits in the society. Occupational therapists cannot make social inequality disappear because this is influenced by politic and structural systems in the society.
