Sammendrag
Technology evolutions are an important contributor to influencing existing work processes. These evolutions not only affect the way stakeholders collaborate in these processes but also impact the way data is created, shared, stored, and used. Information System (IS) research suggests how the evolution of technology has impacted an organisation structure. To support this, the thesis focuses on an interpretive case study based on an oil and gas company's work process of delivering 3D and 2D drawings. The work process under evaluation is highly data-oriented, the data created in this work process impacts the way operation activities are carried out in the company. Considering the growing interest in the organisation with data governance the thesis studies the need for the new work process to be designed in a data-centric approach. Because of the technology evolution and the need for a data governance structure the thesis evaluates the socio-technical aspect of trust. The thesis focuses on understanding the impacts of technology evolution on the organisations work process, it identifies the need for data governance as a new structure and in doing so it identifies the socio-technical impact of trust on work processes. The study suggests building a ‘trust network’ to identify how trust is impacted due to change and why it is a vital principle to be considered during redesigning the organisations work process.
