The global pandemic and national debts

Abstract

I denne teksten, ser jeg på utfordringer og løsninger for økt nasjonal gjeld på grunn av den globale pandemien. Jeg benytter makroøkonomisk teori for å se på de store forholdene i økonomien. Analysen gjøres på generelt grunnlag, mens jeg bruker USA og Norge som eksempler gjennom teksten. Jeg vil se på hvordan økt nasjonal gjeld, som så mange land har opplevd, opvirker både landene og dems innbyggere.

Datamaterialet jeg har samlet for de to landene, strekker seg fra 2017 til 2020, slik at jeg unngår å inkludere effekter fra andre økonomiske utfordringer, som for eksempel finanskrisen.

Resultatene viser at økt nasjonal gjeld vil påvirke myndighetene og innbyggerne på ulike måter, muligens i lang tid, avhengig av landenes økonomiske situasjoner, og hvilke tiltak de gjør.

In this paper, I look at challenges and solutions to increased global debt due to the global pandemic. I utilize macroeconomic theory to look at the big relations in the economy. The analysis will be on a general basis, whilst using the USA and Norway as examples throughout the text. I will look at how the increased debts many countries have experienced will affect both the countries themselves, as well as their citizens.

The data I have gathered from the two countries goes from 2017 to 2020, in order to avoid including effects from other economic challenges, such as the financial crisis.

The results show that increased government debts will affect both governments and citizens in various ways, possibly for a long time, depending on the countries’ financial situations, as well as the policies the countries’ governments apply.
