Lyden av det indre kjensleliv: Musikk og atmosfærelyd som stemningsfunksjon

Abstract

Denne bacheloroppgåva undersøkjer korleis musikk og atmosfærelyd blir brukt som ein stemningsfunksjon for å fremja ein karakter sin indre sinnstilstand og kjensle. Maskeringsmetoden blir nytta som framgangsmåte i analysen for å belyse musikken og atmosfærelydens særeigne funksjon og organisering, samtidig som samspelet mellom det auditive og visuelle blir studert. Utgangspunktet for den audiovisuelle nær-analysen er to utvalte sekvensar frå Joachim Trier sin film Louder Than Bombs (Trier, 2015). Det vil og bli inkludert ei scene frå Trier sine filmar Oslo, 31. august (Trier, 2011) og Thelma (Trier, 2017) som samanlikning for å drøfte teknikkane som fremjar den indre sinnstilstanden og emosjonelle aspektet til karakterane.

This bachelor’s thesis will explore how music and atmospheric sound are used as mood providing tools to reflect the emotional life and state of mind of a character. The masking method will be used to shed light on music and atmospheric sounds unique function and organization, simultanoeusly as the interplay between the auditory and visual is studied. The source of the audiovisual analysis will be two sequences from Joachim Trier’s movie, Louder Than Bombs (Trier, 2015) and include scenes from Oslo, 31. august (Trier, 2011) and Thelma (Trier, 2017) as a comparison of how these techniques are used to explore the inner perception and emotional aspect of the characters.
