Retorikk i nyhetsbildet: En kvalitativ innholdsanalyse av norske mediers representasjon av vindkraftutbygging

Abstract

Tema for denne oppgaven er norske mediers bruk av bilder i sin representasjon av vindkraftutbygging. Oppgaven undersøker hvilke retoriske grep som kommer til uttrykk i disse representasjonene, og ser på hvordan forholdet mellom tekst og bilde brukes til å formidle hva som skjer i en konflikt mellom vindkraftutbyggere og lokale innbyggere. Dette gjøres gjennom en kvalitativ innholdsanalyse av utvalgte avisartikler. Ved bruk av denne metoden finner jeg flere retoriske virkemidler i både bildene og den medfølgende teksten. Situasjonen er følelsesladd for de lokale innbyggerne på stedene hvor det bygges ut vindkraft, og dette kommer også frem i medienes representasjoner.

This thesis researches the use of pictures in Norwegian medias representation of the development of onshore wind farms. This is done through looking at which rhetorical methods are expressed in these representations, and researches how the relationship between text and picture is used to express what happens in a conflict between the wind farm developers and the local residents. The method in use is a qualitative content analysis method of chosen newspaper articles. By use of this method, several rhetorical devices are uncovered in both the pictures and the text. The situation is emotional for the local residents where the wind farms are in development, and this is also expressed through the medias representations.
