Bakgrunn: Det finnes mange teorier om hva det betyr for mennesker med utviklingshemming å ha et arbeid, og hvordan et arbeid påvirker livene deres. Arbeidstakere med utviklingshemming har selv meninger om dette temaet.

Hensikt: Hensikten med denne oppgaven er å få innsikt i hva mennesker med utviklingshemming tenker og føler om hva det betyr å ha et arbeid, og hvordan dette påvirker livskvaliteten deres.

Metode: Denne oppgaven bruker litteraturstudie som metode.

Resultat: Resultatene ble hentet fra fem kvalitative artikler. Funn viser at det er sentrale områder som har betydning for mennesker med utviklingshemming når de har et arbeid. Det resulterte i tre temaer: autonomi, tilhørighet og kompetanse.

Konklusjon: Ut fra resultatene har mennesker med utviklingshemming klart for seg hva det betyr for dem å at et arbeid. Det er viktig å lytte til disse menneskene for å høre hva de selv mener.

Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to gain insight into what people with intellectual disabilities think and feel about what it means to have a job, and how this affects their quality of life.

Method: This asignment uses the study of literature as a method.

Result: The results were obtained from five qualitative articles. Findings show that there are key areas that are important for people with intellectual disabilities when they have a job. This resulted in three themes: autonomi, affiliation and competence.

Conclusion: Based on the results, people with intellectual disabilities understand what it means to them to have a job. It is important to listen to these people, so we can understand their oppinion on the matter.
