dc.description.abstract | Flexible riser installations or replacements are operations which need to be accurately planned and trained for. Virtual prototyping (VP) allows engineers to interact with simulation tools in real time (RT) during the planning phase, thereby finding optimal solutions and enhancing operational procedures in terms of safety and speed. Literature research has found scarce publication of simulation of flexible riser installation operations. This study compares the outcomes of a RT VP with a benchmark based on the finite element method. The approach presented throughout this paper can provide some suggestions with respect to the installation of a flexible pipe in practical engineering. | en_US |
