Simulating water and gas flooding in low NTG fluvial and similar high contrast environments.
Abstract
The effect of grid resolution and upscaling on the simulated effect of water and gas flooding in high contrast low NTG reservoirs was investigated. The majority-rule relperm upscaling with volumetric average upscaling and Christie permeability upscaling proves to be the best choice among the alternatives. Upscaling generally is meaningful for such reservors because it reduces the numerical error greatly.Necessary python scripts for creating geological models, upscaling and data analysis were written. The authomatisation of the workflow, which is highly relevant for upscaling studies, was performed. The industrial way of handling Eclipse data files has been developed.
