The thesis comprises planning, testing and refining of a co-design workshop for data collection. The workshop was run with two patients diagnosed with CF, resulting in 4 hours of audio and 41 gamification design ideas. The collected data were thematically analyzed, resulting in findings showing strong engagement regarding social interaction, empowerment and progression to increase CF patients' motivation for self-management. In terms of research contributions, this thesis provides 1) A complete user-centered approach on how to plan and conduct an ideation workshop to co-design gamification solutions, 2) A complete list of gamification design ideas proposed by CF patients with associated psychological and behavioral outcomes, 3) An analysis of CF patients' motivations for utilizing gamfication to increase motivation for self-management, and 4) Gamification design examples inspired by the findings of the workshops.
